Mayor Roberts, is a business owner and former six-term Mayor of the City of Lancaster, now Emeritus of the City of Lancaster. He was appointed to the L.A. County Workforce Investment Board in June 13, 2000, on the recommendation of L.A. County Supervisor Michael Antonovich of the Fifth Supervisorial District. Mayor Roberts was a member of the former L.A. County Private Industry Council, historically including CETA and MDTA, until it transition into the L.A. County Workforce Investment Board in 2000. Mayor Roberts is also a past Chair and previous Director of the Antelope Valley Air Pollution Control District. He is currently a lifetime member of the Antelope Valley Board of Trade; Antelope Valley Regional Partnership; Antelope Valley Senior Center Advisory Board; Participant in the California Contract Cities Association, and the Desert and Mountain Division of the California League of Cities. He served as Chair and Director of the L.A. County MTA, was a member of the L.A. County City Selection Committee, and appointed to the 21st Century Workforce Commission (Congressional Appointment), among others. Mayor Roberts is a retired College Dean (38 years of service at Antelope Valley Community College). His former business and professional experience includes owning/operating multiple cable systems in Los Angeles, Inyo, and Mono Counties. He currently owns and operates two (2) retail businesses including Land Management Operations and multiple rentals in two Counties in California.
